Playing burned CD's in CD player |

Hi - wondering if anyone else is having this problem. When I try to play a
burned CD in my DVD player (which I also use as my home stereo CD player),
sometimes a CD will not play continuously. I thought first of all it was
because of a cheap CD, so I changed to a "brand name". Doesn't seem to make
much difference though -it will play maybe one or two songs - then stop. I
have to skip ahead to play the next song, then it will stop again, or maybe
play 2 or 3 more then stop. Just a few things to let you know:
1) it only seems to happen with CDA files - mp3 files will play fine
2) They play on my computer fine, and on my daughter's cheap little portable
CD player. However, have tried in some car CD Players - some will play, some
won't
I have tried decreasing burn speed, burning in Media Player, Real Player and
the NTI gold - but there doesn't seem to be any consistency. SOme will play
fine; others will play one or two songs then stop, but they all play right
through on the computer in Media Player or Real player no problem. The DVD
Player is Toshiba.
WOuld appreciate any help or suggestions!

Just convert cda to wma - WMP does it anyway; that is, do not copy CD to CD,
rather rip to harddrive then to CD. I had a Toshiba DVD w/ same problems.

Well that is what I have been doing - ripping a cd to the drive but the files
are converted to mp3 when i do it - I know you can set the option to haev mp3
or wma.
but my dvd player will not play wma files - only cd audio or mp3. So - are
you saying that when I rip the CD - have them ripped as wma files rather than
mp3 - then burn the cd back to cda?
I just tried burning a cd again - dropped record speed down to 16x - it
seemed to work - for a while - played first 7 tracks - then stopped. WHen I
hit skip it went to 8th track and seems to be playing the rest of them now.
WHen I tried earlier, it would play the first track, then 2nd and stop. and
basically just play each track singly rather than right through - so it
sounds like it may be a thing with the dvd player rather than the way I am
burning, though if i drop the speed even more maybe that woudl solve it.

Hmm, I didn't think about it, but converting back to cda (you need a
converter from the web) might solve it.
I'd also try to burn on a different burner - Plextor preferably, to see if
the issue persists. Alternatively, you can test the CD (.cda files) in other
DVD players at an electronics store.
Cleaning the Toshiba laser lens might help as well.

well - that is the problem - the cda files are not playing consistently -
mp3 will pay right through.

It's not the cda files playing issue per se but the beginning of the CD that
store info about the location of the cda files.

The ongoing saga!!!!!
Well - I went out and bought some more CD-r - tried again - burned a cd
using 48x speed in Media Player. Seemed to be working fine - played 5 or 6
songs, then stopped. After about two or three minutes - it went to next song
and played, and then played rest of CD. However, still sort of frustrating.
So - I tried burning it with NTI Dragon burner that came bundled with
computer. With the exception of a little "pop" between a couple of songs -
when one ends and just before next begins, played CD straight though with no
stopping. So - even though MEdia Player seems to be a little easier to use,
to avoid the headaches I will use NTI to burn my audio cds. I will let you
know how things turn out - thanks for your all your help! Any other
suggestions though - feel free!

GO buy a new DVD player - they sell well for under $100; take a recorded CD
with you to test the player (Sony would do if you don't want the Denon or
Onkyo stuff).

I know I know.....
this dvd player was a gift though - its only like 2 years old - i Know you
can get ones now for 50 bucks that will play everything - mp3. wma, you name
it. I just hate going out and buying new stuff when the stuff I have (for the
most part) works fine - I still have my turntable for gods sake!! (Need a new
needle though - having a time trying to find one of those!!)

Well - I went out and bought some more CD-r - tried again - burned a cd
using 48x speed in Media Player. Seemed to be working fine - played 5 or 6
songs, then stopped. After about two or three minutes - it went to next
song
and played, and then played rest of CD. However, still sort of
frustrating.
So - I tried burning it with NTI Dragon burner that came bundled with
computer. With the exception of a little "pop" between a couple of songs -
when one ends and just before next begins, played CD straight though with
no
stopping. So - even though MEdia Player seems to be a little easier to
use,
to avoid the headaches I will use NTI to burn my audio cds. I will let
you
know how things turn out - thanks for your all your help! Any other
suggestions though - feel free!

I just tried burning a cd again - dropped record speed down to 16x -
it
seemed to work - for a while - played first 7 tracks - then stopped.
WHen

hit skip it went to 8th track and seems to be playing the rest of
them
now.
WHen I tried earlier, it would play the first track, then 2nd and
stop.
and
basically just play each track singly rather than right through - so
it
sounds like it may be a thing with the dvd player rather than the way
I am
burning, though if i drop the speed even more maybe that woudl solve
it.

The
DVD
Player is Toshiba.
