I've included local printing support and the "Okidata ML-320" component in
my image, but after the image FBAs and boots I check Printers in Control
Panel and no printer is shown as installed.

If I open a DOS window and type "dir >lpt1" the directory is printed as
expected. But my VB application returns error 482, so I assume it cannot
find a default printer.

Does anyone have any advice about how to get a non-PnP printer to be the
default printer?

Thanks for your help.

Flo,

I appreciate your response. My question, really, is this: the printers I
want to use are already componentized in the standard XPe SP1 database. If
I add those components to my image, why are the printers not installed
automatically, like any other hardware? Further, if after FBA I boot the
image and try to install them using the Control Panel "Add Printer" dialog,
the installer stops and tells me that other files are needed. Why? Were the
printer components not properly componentized in the first place? I've got
the "Local Printing" component included - are there others I need as well?

Regards,
Dean
