.Net framework 1.1 SP1 - won't install |
|
|
I'm trying to update an existing device (XPe SP2 w/.Net framework 1.1 SP0)
to .Net framework SP1.
When I download the SP1 redistributable (NDP1.1sp1-KB67460-X86.exe) and run
it on the target, it says it can't perform the upgrade because the software
to be upgraded is either not present or a different version.
When I try to run the original framework 1.1 installer, it says it can't
install because it's already installed.
I've searched for an installer for XPe, but don't find one.
BTW, the reason why I want to try an upgrade: I've got a .Net application
that uses SOAP to get data from a web server (built from a .wsdl file
provided by the server).
It works on XP Pro, but something must be different on the XPe device,
because there the server returns nothing but errors.
The problem is that the error message is just "data not available", I don't
have access to the server to see why it's saying that, and spying on
network traffic won't help because it's using a secure connection.
If anyone has an idea, I'd be pleased with a pointer. |

Lucvdv,
You might want to try using the Desktop QFE installer, to service the
runtime image... available on the OEM secure site... this allows you to use
XP Pro Desktop Qfe's and apply to XPE runtimes...

Don't let the site confuse you. The button on signup.asp says "Register

I've done it a hundred times now and it still bugs me every time ... |

Thanks.
I had already tried to look at the OEM secure site, but for some reason it
didn't give me the option to log on, only for a first-time signup.
When I go to https://microsoft.embeddedoem.com, it takes me straight to
https://microsoft.embeddedoem.com/signup.asp.
I already had access before, but even the link in the confirmation mail
sends me straight back to the signup page.
OTOH, I don't need the upgrade anymore: the problem isn't related to XPe,
it must be something in the network setup (firewall?). I took my laptop,
on which the app works at the office, drove over to the location where I
had the problem and tried it there: same error. Tried it at home, and
there it works. |
